Knit My Leaf Cowl With Me

Direct link to the video.

When your brain has a vendetta against you. Knit this cosy leaf cowl with me to keep your neck warm anyway. I will not be contained by such nefarious things as unfortunate health. 😤

This cowl was a really nice respite from the very brainy task of drafting patterns and thinking about fit and pinning correctly for new experimental (for me) garments. It might not be that way for you, but I learned knitting so long ago that it is one of those things that my hands just do. Although with patterns I still have to pay some attention, or that auto-pilot will be my downfall!

I had originally intended this to be an autumn project, because what better than knitting in an armchair by the fire as rain and wind howl just outside the window and the seasons darken? But it was not to be.

Then again, if we actually want our projects to be finished in time for the colder season, this is a great time to be starting. Bonus: Small projects like these don’t heat up your lap in summer nearly as much as big, fluffy sweaters!

Other me-made things I am wearing:

Drops Design also has a whole plethora of tutorial videos, and their site is available in many different languages. Great if knitting is still a mite archaic to you, or you want more than just ✨vibes✨.

Leaf cowl pattern.

Fantabulous cats in teacups stitch markers and leafy stitch stoppers were generous gifts by friends. I don’t know where they came from. But I assume a well-stocked knitting and/or yarn shop would be a good place to start.

Fun fact: These are the glasses I wear in my day-to-day. They’re called FL-41 and can reduce the number of migraine attacks in people where bright light and sunlight are a trigger (hello, it me). I prefer the look of my other glasses though, which is why I usually try to swap before filming when I can manage. 👓

Making a Simple Daily Wear Blouse Feat. Smocking

Link to video. Keeping some projects small and manageable, just before we head into the more cosy autumn, spooky season. It doesn’t hurt that I finally got to use this glorious fabric that has lived in my stash for years either. Projects don’t all have to be big and ambitious or even symmetrical. You can…

    Adjustable Pants That ALWAYS Fit!

I know it would probably have been easier to start my trouser-drafting journey with something adamantly NOT adjustable. But where is the fun in that? In retrospect, I very obviously should have interfaced the waistbands with some more structural canvas to help it out. Which I might add later. This project was so much fun.…
